Wondering what’s coming your way for the Winter Holiday Village this year? Wait no more. Today the LEGO Group have revealed the upcoming release of two major holiday themed sets, coming in October 2025. the first is 10361 LEGO® Icons Holiday Express Train – the third winter holiday train and the first since the LEGO Group adopted the ICONs branding (and started to use a lot of pale blue in their winter holiday sets.)

There is also the massive 41843 LEGO Family Christmas Tree Decoration, with 3171 pieces. This Christmas Tree opens up to reveal a diorama stacked with minifigures.

Here’s the press release…
Today, the LEGO Group reveals two new festive sets, designed to bring seasonal joy to builders of all ages. The LEGO® Icons Holiday Express Train (10361) and the LEGO Family Christmas Tree Decoration (41843) offer joyful building experiences for adult fans and families looking to create unforgettable holiday moments.

The LEGO Icons Holiday Express Train is a 956-piece set that invites adult fans to climb aboard a festive brick-built journey. There are four car elements to the train, including a steam locomotive with a bobbing smokestack, and a bell-ringing polar bear. A platform with a bench and lamppost adds extra charm, alongside miniature toy builds including a first-ever 3D-printed LEGO piece.
This set makes a stunning centrepiece to a seasonal display, with a 16-piece circular track that can be set up on a tablescape or around a holiday tree. Fans can even motorise the locomotive using the LEGO Powered Up kit (sold separately, available at LEGO.com/HolidayTrain). With two sets of printed instructions included, this build can be enjoyed as a shared, fun festive experience.
Also revealing today is the LEGO Family Christmas Tree Decoration, a 3171-piece set that invites families and builders aged 9+ to create a spectacular Christmas tree home decor piece, filled with imaginative details.

The set features panels that open to reveal four rooms inside, where elves and Santa Claus are preparing for the holidays. Included is also a sleigh, reindeer, plushies, Mrs. Claus, and five industrious elves, all ready to bring the season to life. This is also the first time a LEGO set includes a brick-built Cataclaws – the hero of the LEGO Group’s recent holiday campaigns.
Functional features include working knobs that bring the base train and kitchen clock to life, and a modular design that easily separates into sections for convenient post-holiday storage. Light and sound bricks are included to bring the tree to life. This set can be built as a shared activity, with the option to build together with up to six friends and family on the LEGO Builder app.
It has been 8 years since the last holiday train, and this is the first since we saw a lot of people return to LEGO play since the pandemic. I really like the pale and dark blue colour scheme, as well as the way the caboose is made to look as if it is wrapped up.
While the sets is readily adapted for power functions, there have been some shortages in purchasing the individual components from LEGO directly – in Australia today, only the motor is listed (and is out of stock), while the 88009 Hub and the 88010 controller are both listed as retired. I am not certain that Casual holiday train fans will want to an addition $200+ on a train they will be pulling apart for the motor, if the actual elements are not readily available. I am sure life will find a way.
The Christmas tree is an interesting looking set, and I fear there are attempts to seduce the most keen of completionists by adding in a new Shield print, as well as a holiday themed classic space torso, along with a bright green helmet and air tanks. The presence of Cataclaws, the LEGO Christmas Sales mascot, is sure to be a hit with some, but strikes me as an unnecessary inclusion. the plushies will again appeal to collectors, as will the Reindeer. Of course, you can’t have too many elves, and Santa’s factory appears to be an ongoing popular theme for MOCs at large expos around the world, and

The LEGO Family Christmas Tree Decoration is also available for LEGO Insiders Early Access* from 1st October 2025 via LEGO.com/TreeDecoration and LEGO Stores, and for all from 4th October 2025, priced at AUD499.99 /299.99 EUR / 269.99 GBP / 299.99 USD. *Membership required, T&Cs apply.
With both The Holiday Village, as well as the world of Santa’s helpers entering the fray this year, you can choose whichever faction of holiday participant that you wish to collect. However, we can’t deny that the $300USD Christmas tree (500 AUD) will be quite an investment. Is this ongoing celebration of Christmas Consumerism self sustaining? If nothing else, there will be no room under the tree for any presents!
