Since they were first revealed in the closing days of 2020, the Botanical collection continues to attract new adults to the mysterious world of LEGO building. They were certainly high on the list of sets that seed some of the most imaginative alternative parts usage in any retail set, even if there is the slight ‘cheat’ of being able to recolour elements to create the desired effect.

It might still be the closing days of August, but before we know it, it will be October, and the Christmas specific stock will be released. This year, there are two new additions to the Botanical Collection with a holiday bent: a Poinsettia and a wreath. Both sets are now available for preorder, in preparation for release on October 1 2024. The 10370 LEGO Icons Poinsettia will have 608 pieces and be priced at € 49.99/ $USD49.99 / £44,99 / AUD 99.99, while 10340 LEGO ICONS Wreath has almost 1200 pieces, and has a recommended retail price of €99.99/ $USD 99.99 / £ 89,99 / 169.99 AUD. Read on for more Details:
10370 LEGO Icons Poinsettia
This elegant, posable LEGO plant replica depicts a ‘Grande Italia’ poinsettia. Nestled in a woven-basket flowerpot, it features green leaves and five clusters of vibrant red leaves (bracts) with yellow cyathia at the center. The poinsettia plant, including the flowerpot, in this 608-piece building set measures over 8 in. (21 cm) high, 8.5 in. (22 cm) wide and 6.5 in. (17 cm) deep
This is a fantastic study in reds and greens – especially the darker shades. Elements of interest here include the NEXO Knights wedge element, as well as the recently introduced pennant elements – this time in bright red. The moulded jelly/cupcakes from friends bring us a wonderful cool yellow stamen. As well as these ‘traditional’ Botanical elements, we also have a ninja throwing star in both red and green. The basket itself looks to be either tan or nougat in colour, using recoloured car bonnets to give part of the shape of a woven pot holder, similar to that of the easter basket from 18 month ago.

10340 LEGO Icons Wreath
Suitable for wall and table decoration, the LEGO Icons Wreath makes a great gift idea for the holiday season or any other special occasion. The 1,194-piece wreath comes with four hanging loops and can also be displayed in garland configuration. Choose between red, blue and white berries or create your own combination. Position the orange slices, cinnamon and pinecones, and pose the rich green foliage for that perfect look. The wreath in this 1,194-piece building set measures over 2.5 in. (7 cm) high, 14.5 in. (37 cm) long and 14.5 in. (37 cm) wide
As well as reprising the dark green palm leaves seen in the crysanthemum and wildflower bouquet, we also see the element arrive in sand green. The wreath can also exist as a garland, if you are looking for a table setting. There are also a variety of different coloured berries on offer, alonth a printed transparent orange dish – representing a slice of dried orange. There is also an element for allow you to hang the wreath on the wall.

The botanical sets have proven themselves to be a fun collaborative activity in our household – ideal for group building, as well as a talking point on display. I will be interested to see how these sets translate into this context – are they focussed on being solo builds? Or will they be for families to work on together?
Have you built any of the botanical collection in your household? Are they on display? Would you buy these more seasonal options? Let us know in the comment section.
