10339 Santa’s Post Office
Santa’s post office if the latest addition to a long tradition of seasonal sets, setting up a snow covered village. The two story post office is royal light blue with one of the new medium tan or brown (or just old medium nougat?) trim. There are 3 main areas to the post office. A central office with sorting chute, which feeds the letters into a chute to organise delivery, a downstairs office, where Santa might pen his replies and a store room, above which is a landing platform for the balloon, which also drops balloons into the chute. From there, mail enters the rotting machine , and is sent to either the red trolley or the green one. Is this to distinguish between naughty and nice? Or is there some other distinction?

The hot air balloon has a gold and dark green envelope, while a crank allows the crate of letters to tip into the chute. A button on the top of the balloon’s envelope lights up the burner. There is a small Christmas tree, using a similar design to some seen previously, but with the 1×3 slopes with round cutout, instead of the good old 33º slope that dominated this space previously. There is also a free standing letter box, attached to a sign directing you to the elves workshop as well as the clubhouse, previous sets in the range.. There is a small hole in the ice, with a baby seal playing by the water’s edge.
There is a big red lever on the sorting machine to direct the flow of mail. This images suggests that there are at least 3 different types of printed tile representing envelopes, including a handwritten Airmail envelope, and a piece of junk mail.

There are a total of 5 minifigures in the set: Santa Claus (I cannot work out exactly which version, although there have bee a couple in use over the last few years) and four postal elves, featuring a festive trim on their collars, firm belts and the updated hunting horn of the LEGOLAND postal service. Three of the elves are wearing the traditional elf’s hat and ears, while one is wearing a leather flying helmet and googles, just right for soaring up above the village in the hot air balloon. I presume the letter flying loose on the end of the whip has blown out of the elf’s hand, hence her surprised expression. We see other elf’s with landing lights, to guide in the balloon, as well as a coffee cup, as well as Santa’s sack, in nougat.

While the post office looks like a lot of fun – Santa certainly keeps busy between his time at the Workshop and the Post Office – not all of the mail arrives by air, and to this end, a further set is being released.
40746 Santa’s Delivery Truck
This 224 piece set features another Elf minfigure, and is priced at $AUD32.99/€19.99 / $19.99 / £17.99

This charming truck also carries supplies for Santa’s Workshop, as well as a veritable …truckload … of presents. While it appears to be relatively simple in its construction, it features a fairly reasonable level of detail for such a set.
I find myself wondering, at what point did it happen that Santa was going to need to outsource his delivery work: now we have the answer, complete with a small customer service repair business for offsite repairs. This set is available on October 1st, 2024, and will be a LEGO Retail Channel Exclusive from the 1st of October

Yet another entertaining & informative article, thank you. I particularly like the ’rounded’ snow pattern at the bottom of each roof slope, looks more realistic.
