LEGO IDEAS: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Revealed

For 80’s kids (and their kids, we have another appealing Cinematic Character from the studio of Steven Spielberg: Not Jaws, Not Indiana Jones but ET, the Extra Terrestrial.

Based on the LEGO Ideas Submission by French designer Lafabrick, LEGO Ideas Set 21370 E.T the Extra Terrestrial will be released on August 1 2026. The set has 1226 pieces and will be priced at $AUD229.99/ $USD139.99 / 129.99€ / £119.99.

As a person of a certain age, I first saw E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial during its initial run over the Australian summer holidays in 1982-83. The trailer of the film may have given you the chapter headings for eavery part of the story, but only the thumbnail to the trailer on Youtube provides any real detail about E.T.’s shape and form.

That said, I probably cried towards the end of the film, just as my friends insisted I would…

This is all just an awkward way of saying that the key subject matter of the upcoming 21370 LEGO Ideas set was hidden throughout the trailer, but is spoiled instantly on the front of the box.

Product Description:

“I’ll… be… right… here.” Create a nostalgic piece of alien decor for your home with the LEGO® Ideas E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (21370) building set for adults. This posable E.T. figure captures the wrinkles and expressions of one of the most adorable aliens in sci-fi film history. Treat yourself or another fan with this fun gift idea for film and E.T. merchandise collectors. Angle his head up, down and rotate it 360 degrees. Point his forefinger to symbolise E.T.’s desire to “phone home.” Press the switch to make his heart glow. And display E.T. carrying the pot of LEGO flowers, as if bringing them back to life. The alien statue’s original design was created by a fan designer and voted for by LEGO fans. It offers a fun, immersive activity whether you’re new to LEGO sets or a more experienced builder. And you can enhance your creative experience with the LEGO Builder app, zooming and rotating using 3D instructions, while saving and tracking your progress. Set contains 1,226 pieces.

It will be 10 years this November since E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was represented in LEGO form, although back then it was as a minifigure, and playable character in LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack 71258. In the meantime, I should revisit the Cupboard of Good Intentions, and pull this figure out to compare withthe finished model, which has just arrived for review… I don’t even know why I am asking this Question.
