It was one of those happy accidents, while I was opening an order from LEGO.com. I recently redeemed some VIP points for the spinning 1950 logo keyring. I was surprised when I opened the parcel and found a hitherto unannounced 1964 LOGO keyring enclosed. Compared with the round 1950 logo keyring, this is square, golden in colour, and features the logo from the mid-1960s: a bright red field, with an early version of the LEGO logotype, and the handwritten ‘System’ underneath.

The keyring spins around the central axis, and feels quite substantial to hold, particularly compared with a standard ‘minifigure’ keyring. Today (10/10/2022), the 1950 keyring is still on offer, but I wonder if it will be finishing up soon. There were a number of logos in use between 1050 and 1964, so I wonder if we should expect some more to be put on offer over the next few months.

To be honest, I quite like this one. But my inner completionist has been prompted!

In the meantime, you can earn Double VIP Points at LEGO.COM from October 10-16 2022. [Note: this article includes affiliate links: if you shop from LEGO.com after clicking on these links, the Rambling Brick might receive a small commission.]
This is a great chance to beef up that points balance for the next keyring, or to increase the value of the discount on future purchases, especially in the face of recent price hikes.
That said, I contacted customer service about the requested/redeemed keyring: hopefully, I might be able to get that with a future purchase.
Normally, I wouldn’t report on this, except the keyring I received was not one that has been officially available at this point. Have you had any pleasant surprises when you set out to redeem LEGO VIP Points? Why not leave your comments below, and until next time…
