Two pieces of news from Blocks Magazine today: Issue 80 is now on its way to subscribers, and the team have now opened up the complete digital back catalog to subscribers.
Issue 80 of Blocks, the LEGO® magazine for fans, goes behind-the-scenes of 40516 Everyone is Awesome with Matthew Ashton, reveals how LEGO Masters went global and delves into the history of Looney Tunes.
Blocks magazine Issue 80 is available worldwide as a single issue or as part of a subscription at www.blocksmag.com now and will be in UK stores from June 6. Subscribe today to be in with a chance of winning one of five 76182 Batman Cowl sets.
Graeme Hancock, Editor at Blocks, reached out to me recently to tell me about their latest initiative for subscribers: if you are a subsciber, you gain access to their entire back catalog online. This is great news. I hate reading magazines that might make occasional references to their past issues, but without those issues being readily available.
Blocks is delighted to announce that we’re opening up the back catalogue, providing access to more than 80 digital back issues of the LEGO magazine for fans, including the rare pilot issue. Print subscribers will get this new perk completely free for the duration of their subscription!
The team at Blocks magazine is always looking for ways to offer better value to our print subscribers, and this might be the best offering yet. Now, every single back issue of the magazine is part of a digital archive that print subscribers will have access to.
Every single back issue is included in the digital back catalogue, including the rare pilot issue and Issue 1! Within the more than 9,000 pages there are classic features including the making of The LEGO Batman Movie, a look back at LEGO Pirates, how NEXO KNIGHTS was created, our review of the epic 71040 The Disney Castle, a trip to the beach to hunt for LEGO bricks and the prosthetic arm inspired by LEGO connections.
Oh, and it includes access to every single Technique guide too – so you can really learn how to improve your building skills.
Even if you already have a huge stash of back issues, this is going to prove handy – you can search the archive, so if you want to see every article about Blacktron, you can find the issue and the page where those features appear. You can then enjoy the digital version or dig out the paper copy and know exactly where you’ll find the feature.
This new perk is in addition to the existing benefits that print subscribers get;
- Entry into the monthly prize draw to win LEGO sets
- Save money – a print subscription is cheaper than individual issues
- The magazine early, ahead of when it arrives in shops
- No hassle – Blocks magazine comes to you
- Discounts on selected items in the Blocks online shop

‘We have an incredible library of content and it’s amazing that people will now have access to it. I’m really glad that people who have joined the Blocks train along the way – or have buried their back issues under piles of LEGO sets – will be able to enjoy these classic features,’ said Blocks Editor Graham Hancock.
In Issue 80:
LEGO 40516 Everyone is Awesome is arriving for Pride month to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and we are talking to the set’s creator – Vice President of Design Matthew Ashton, who in an exclusive Q&A reveals how he came up with the concept and designed the model.
We also speak to LEGO Masters Executive Producer Steph Harris, who gives us a taste of what we can expect in the second US season and reveals how the series went from a concept for British television to a global juggernaut.
To celebrate the new Looney Tunes Collectible Minifigures, we present a series of brand new, exclusive images and hear from animation historian Jerry Beck. He knows everything there is to know about Bugs Bunny and friends, so is the perfect person to explain the history of these beloved characters and suggest why they have endured so well.
As ever there’s a wealth of creativity to be found within Blocks Issue 80, starting with a guide to rebuilding 80024 The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain as an Islanders paradise. Over in the Technique section there are tips and tricks for putting together vegetable patches and there’s also a look at winning entries from the Brick Train Awards.
This is just a taste of what’s in store within the 116 pages, which also include regulars like Reviews, Ideas Showcase, Month in MOCs, This LEGO Life, From the Vault and LUG Spotlight, plus a run-down of the new summer sets.
Blocks is giving away five LEGO 76182 Batman Cowl sets this month! To be entered into the latest prize draw and to get Blocks magazine delivered every month – ahead of the shops – visit www.blocksmag.com and check out the money-saving subscription deals available.
