11506 Rocking Plants still keep us Happy.

Two cheerful, colourful LEGO plant models: one in pink with a happy face and a single green sprout, and another in yellow with vibrant flowers, both titled '11506 Rocking Plants'.

Last year, the LEGO® Botanical theme gave us 10349 Happy Plants, anthropomorphic potplants with a whimsical grin and a green hairstyle. Botanicals has been one of the big successes in the LEGO portfolio over the past few years, bringing new people to LEGO building, and bringing others back after a many-year gap. Happy Plants was one of those sets that was relatively inexpensive, simple to build, and brought a delightful end result to the display space.

Knowing that when you are on a good thing, stick to it, it would appear that “Plants in small, whimsical smiling pots” is becoming a subtheme of Botanicals with the upcoming release of 11506 Rocking Plants. Adding to last year’s pale yellow and baby blue pots are bright pink and spring yellowish green versions, this new set brings some new gimmicks. But at what expense?

This set has 253 pieces and a RRP of $AUD 29.99 / $USD22.99 / £GBP17.99 / 19.99€. It is aimed at builders aged 9 and up and set to be released on May 1st, 2026. The LEGO Group sent these over to take an early look…

Botanicals Review and Interview IV: 11509 Flowering Cactus

A LEGO set featuring the 11509 Flowering Cactus on a wooden shelf, showcasing two cacti with flowers in a blue pot.

Sorry about the interruption to this series: Our local major event intervened. Brickvention 2026 was great fun, and just a little bit exhausting. Today, we complete our reviews of the January 2026 Botanicals releases, and present the final installment of our interview with Senior Designer Theo Bonner, in which we take a moment to discuss the pink roses bouquet, and why it wasn’t just a clone of the red roses; see what made a collection of designers get up and take a look at what their colleague had achieved, and ponder whether the Botanicals sets just don’t feature enough Spinjitsu. Or do they?

Then we will take a closer look at the Flowering Cactus, another of the 2026 Botanical selection. This set has 482 parts and is aimed at builders aged 9 and up. It is priced at $AUD99.99 / $USD49.99 / 59.99 € / £54.99.

Theo Bonner, Senior Designer, LEGO Botanicals

In December, 2025 I had the good fortune to visit LEGO Campus in Billund, Denmark. While there, I had the chance to talk with Theo Bonner – One of the Senior Designers working on LEGO’s Botanicals Theme. During the 45 minutes that we spoke, we covered a variety of topics including the challenges of flowerpots, new colours, storytelling the Botanicals consumer base, storytelling and the lack of Spinjitzu in Botanical sets.

Today, in the first of our four reviews of upcoming Botanical releases, we will take a look at the 11501 Tulip Bouquet, and in our interview extract, we talk about the challenges of recolouring certain elements, the new curved slope element and its connection to a space theme from around the turn of the century.

10374 LEGO® Botanicals Bouquet of Pink Roses: More than just a recolour?

A bouquet of pink LEGO roses arranged in a clear vase, accompanied by small white flowers, against a plain background.

When you are on a good thing, stick to it.

When 10328 Bouquet of Roses was released in January 2024, I suspect the LEGO Group knew they had a hit. The set periodically sells out, and compared to actual red roses, it offers pretty good value. Naturally, I was a little intrigued when I saw an updated ‘bouquet of pink roses’ looming on the horizon. This set has an almost identical part count – and what appears to be a couple of subtle differences.

The set has 789 pieces and will be released on October 1st 2025, selling for $AUD99.99/ $USD59.99 /59.99€ / £54.99. This set was provided by the LEGO Group for review purposes. All opinions are my own. Let’s take a closer look.

10373 Mini Bonsai: Is there a lot to learn from these tiny trees?

Trees are large, making them less than ideal subjects for life-size LEGO® models. Bonsai, the Japanese art of cultivating trees to grow in a miniaturized form in limited space, offers an end product that may be better represented in a domestic brick-building studio.

Bonsai trees have been part of the Lego Botanical Collection since its earliest days, and we recently saw a Japanese red maple added to the collection. Set 10373 brings us a collection of three small bonsai trees: a ginko, a Japanese black pine and a wisteria. But will this be a beautiful decoration, or the start of something more interesting?

LEGO® Botanicals set 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees will be released on 1 August. It is priced in $AUD99.99 / €59.99 /£54.99 / $USD64.99 and has 709 pieces. Let’s take a closer look. [This set was provided by the LEGO Group for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
