THE LEGO GROUP AND ALQUEMIE GROUP TO UNVEIL TASMANIA’S FIRST LEGO® CERTIFIED STORE

Ever since the first LEGO Certified Store in Australia was revealed, Tasmanians – residents of Australia’s Island state, have been wondering ‘When will we get one?’ Today, it would seem, the answer is ‘Soon’.

Friday 8th August 2025: The LEGO Group, in partnership with Alquemie Group, today announced that Tasmania’s first LEGO® Certified Store will open in Hobart in October 2025.

Situated in prime location in Hobart’s vibrant retail precinct in Elizabeth Street near the waterfront, the landmark 330sqm LEGO Certified Store will be one of the largest in Australia and New Zealand. The milestone marks LEGO Certified Stores expansion into its sixth Australian state, offering Tasmanian brick fans a dedicated venue to explore the world of creative play.

Troy Taylor, Vice President and General Manager, LEGO Australia and New Zealand, comments: “The new  LEGO Certified Store in Hobart will offer an unmatched personalised and interactive retail experience for all ages and embody the best of what the LEGO brand offers. We look forward to officially welcoming fans of all ages into our new and inspiring environment in late 2025.”

Following the new global store format, the new LEGO Certified Store in Elizabeth Street, Hobart, is designed to offer limitless possibilities of hands-on play that will fuel the creativity and imagination of all visitors.

Matthew Robertson, Managing Director, Licenced Brands, Alquemie Group, comments: “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our first LEGO Certified Store in Tasmania. This represents our 23th store across Australia and New Zealand and follows the successful recent opening of our Tea Tree Plaza store in SA and a period of significant growth and exceptionally strong performance for the business over the last 12 months.

“The new store in Tasmania will stand as a unique destination for creativity, imagination and hands-on play and we look forward to celebrating the joy of building with the local community. We also look forward to announcing additional store openings in the coming months as we continue to strategically grow the portfolio.”

Hobart’s new LEGO Certified Store will also showcase:

  • Signature features of LEGO Certified Stores globally including a ‘Pick and Build’ wall and Build a Minifigure Station where fans can create exclusive characters with unique parts;
  • Inspiring model displays, including special-scale builds of Tasmanian landmarks and wildlife;
  • Zones for interactive play and hands-on building experiences;
  • Specialist staff offering personalised customer assistance and local workshops;
  • A wide range of LEGO sets, with fun and engaging communication focused on passion-points to help shoppers navigate across portfolio.
