Just a quick note to wish you all a happy holiday, and I hope to see you back soon (I still have a few reviews to post between Now and New year!)
In the meantime, 2021 has been as full of challenges as 2020, both with pursuing LEGO fandom, as well as the consequences of having live go on in the face of the Pandemic.
There have been a few notable successes this year:
Our Builders’ Journeys column started back in July, and we have had around 17 contributions to date. – I am loving the stories about AFOLs, and the sets that were instrumental in define the AFOL they have We all have that one set that influenced the type of LEGO Builder we became. If you would like to be featured in this column, send me a note.
Jay from Jay’s Brick Blog and I launched the Extra Pieces Podcast back in April, and we have been steadily building our audience over the year. Holidays caught up with us, just as the LEGO News Cycle was becoming most interesting. There will be a new episode Very Soon.
I was also privileged to have the opportunity to present at a number of international online events this year, including the Paredes de Coura fan Weekend, as well as Brick Con in Seattle.
Twenty twenty-two is shaping up to be an exciting year, with the LEGO group turning 90 years old, and the result of the LEGO Ideas Fan Vote due to be revealed in a few months time.
This year, I am also looking forward to the new LEGO City sets, which I would argue are as much of a revisitation of the traditional values of Classic Space as we saw back in the ’70s and ’80s; along with the Fan Voted theme revisit, organised through LEGO Ideas this year.
We have already seen some exciting new directions in Monkie Kid and Ninjago for 2022 ( more reviews coming soon) as well as some interesting sets from Creator, and a new breath of life added to the LEGO Super Mario range.
The Rambling Brick has been part of my life for almost 7 years now, and I seem to have failed to celebrate its age on a regular basis. Check back at the end of January to see if I remember this year.
I am grateful to all of you who stop by, to read the blog: without readers, I would just be an angry middle-aged man waving his fist at the Universe and shouting. I have some great ideas for where we shall take the blog later in the year, as well as further topics for discussion. In the meantime, why don’t you comment with the type of content that you like to read here?
In the meantime, I am preparing to celebrate Christmas with my family, followed by a mad dash to the finish line as Brickvention 2022 approaches. After last year’s virtual event, I am looking forward to catching up with old friends while making some new ones too. If you are in Melbourn on the 8th or 9th of January, why not drop by – tickets can only be purchased from https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=640815 I might have a few tickets to Giveaway next week, on Instagram.
thanks again for reading, and until next time…
