Wicked LEGO® Characters: New 75682 Buildable Figures Review

The new LEGO® Wicked 75682 Ephaba and Glinda Figures set introduces a new type of buildable character—quite a change from the articulated figures that have been seen in the superhero era in recent times. I was quite intrigued by how they might be constructed, and so, when the LEGO Group kindly sent over the sets based on the forthcoming movie Wicked, I decided to start with these. All opinions are my own.

Set 75682 Elphaba and Glinda Figures goes on sale on October 1 2024, priced at $AUD99.99/UDS54.99/£43.99/€54.99. It has 558 pieces.

Aimed at kids aged ten years and up, will these figures revolutionise how character builds are executed, or will it fall flat? Let’s take a closer look. And just how do they fit in with the multitude of different forms of licenced character builds that exist in LEGO form?

Wicked Sets Revealed: Will They Be Popular or Defying Gravity?

After a blurry sneak preview by French retailer FNAC last week saw Universal Pictures wield a big stick and serve copyright strikes against folks who reposted them on Instagram last week, we now have access to the high-resolution images of these new sets – and while I might have initially been indifferent to the notion, I only saw the show once back in the days when my kids were still pretty small, I was perpetually tired, and after settling down in the warm, comfortable seats in the theatre surrounded by music, one thing led to another and I dozed off.

That said, these sets appeal to me more than I was expecting. Pre-orders open today, and they go on general sale on October 1, 2024, ahead of the November release of the Movie. Let’s take a closer look.

71394 Super Mario Buildable Figures: Series 3. Biomes, Scores and Powerups.

Like each wave before them, this wave of LEGO Super Mario sets has brought a new collection of buildable figures. The figures have been a little hard to get hold of until recently, particularly in Australia. The boxes of Buildable characters brought a disturbing revelation: While we maintain the count of 10 characters in the series, there are only 18 blind bags in the box. Reports from several Blogs with a full box suggest that (if you get a new box) the front 9 figures on either column of the box side are identical, while the rear one at each end is either Crowber or Bony Beetle.

The team at Toybricks were able to fix me up with a set of the figures, through COVID Safe delivery. Today, we can take a look, look at the characters, as well as look at their relative scores, and other special behaviours…
