3 DREAMZZz August Releases Revealed

If you have been watching the series that goes along with LEGO DREAMZZz, you might recognised that all of the sets that have been revealed to date (June last year; January this year), tie- in with the first season. This week, we have had some sets from the June wave revealed by the Mexican Certified Store. I presume these will tie-in to the next series, due to appear online in mid May. read on to see what is coming. There might be some spoilers coming for series one.

If you cast your mind back, you might recall the Nightmare king appeared to be defeated at the end of the first series, although it was still apparent that aspects of the nightmare realm were intact. We have encountered the Never Witch in the murky realm, as our heroes found the Sand Man’s Castle. At a round table with the Dreamzzz designers that I attended earlier in the year, it was revealed that she would be the ‘Big Bad’ going forward into season 2, although further details were not shared with us. As such, with these new sets, we are probably able to derive a few plot points that occur in the next series. Some might need to be taken with a grain of salt, as it has previously been demonstrated that events might only require a few seconds of screen time to warrant the creation of a LEGO set.

Three sets have been revealed to date, and I expect that there will be more revealed over the next month or two, given the break between the sets’ numbers.

71478 The Never Witch’s Midnight Raven.

With 1203 pieces and 5 minifigures, this set brings us a brick-built raven carrying the Never Witch’s cottage. Resplendent in black, dark blue and transparent medium reddish violet plumage, this bird measures over 40 studs long and just oozes with Chima vibes!

Minifigures include the Mateo, new character Astrid, the Never Witch, Dizzy and Dogan. These last two appear to be corrupted versions of Izzy and Logan.

71484 Cooper’s Robot Dinosaur C. Rex

Cooper has a talent for dream-crafting mechanicial constructions, and this dinosaur looks like it has been dreamt out of the parts of a vehicle. this 917 piece set contains Cooper and Zoey, and their doppelgangers, Dooper and Doey, along with Nightmare spawn Sneak. As well as the Dinoasaur, the set also les you build a pteranodon shaped flying machine. But just why is Cooper a robot?

71485 Mateo and Z-Blob the Knight Battle Mech

This giant Mech has 1333 pieces and brings us Mateo and Logan, Madteo and Dogan along with Sneak and Snivel. Predominantly white, medium azure and transparent bright green, I am intrigued by the face plate used here, as well as the transparent bright green radar dish.

A few thoughts.

I love the way that Dreamzzz continues to provide creative ideas, manifest into LEGO Sets. Each character has a well defined palette, although it would appear that Mateo’s colour palette is expanding this year.

I am curious about the path of taken in the next series with these ‘bizarro world ‘ versions of our heroes.

And if I bring just 3 words to summarize something a exciting here, it would be Minifigure Puffer Jackets! I love the way these fit on the figures, and provide a little extra padding around the torso.

I am also delighted to see that we are continuing to get the alternate builds presented in the printed instructions.

In Conclusion

I am excited to see how the story develops in the next season of DREAMZzz, and these sets have piqued my interest. the creativity shown by the creators of the show and sets seems to take a bit of an unexpected turn with these sets, and they just seem to get better with each wave, That said, these are fairly large sets, and I hope we will see a few cheaper/smaller sets revealed as we approach the (northern) summer release dates.
