The Thrilling Adventures of Brick Dad: Book Review

Henry Pinto and Cade Franklin shot to fame during the first season of LEGO® Masters Australia when they brought home the winners’ trophy. With a generous dose of creativity, to say nothing about a fair bit of talent in the ‘building with bricks’ department, Henry and Cade have released a book, in time for Fathers’ Day here in Australia.

The Thrilling Adventures of Brick Dad is full of short anecdotes surrounding several Dads’ journeys through the challenges of parenting in our modern world: from night terrors to embarrassing your kids, and a father’s first attempt at babysitting while multitasking (well, checking the messages on his phone). These stories are told using some delightfully crafted interior scenes, as well as some cheeky minifigure characters. I personally enjoyed the jokes that played specifically on the ‘LEGOness’ of the situation.

The rooms and scenes on display are gorgeously laid out, and I expect they shall be inspirational for builders looking for that certain something to dress a scene and give it that something extra. Indeed, the image of this sandwich went viral a few weeks ago, and it certainly demonstrates great creativity within the confines of the LEGO System.

It might be a little late to order in time for Father’s Day, but with the LEGO Advent Calendars already starting to go on sale, it could well be worth starting to think about Christmas presents too!

Is this the sort of book you hope makes it under the tree for Christmas? or is opened up on Fathers’ Day? why not leave your comments below, and until next time,

Play well!

The Thrilling Adventures of Brick Dad is published by Hachette Australia and is now available from one of your favourite book suppliers.

I was sent a copy of the book by the publishers for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
