New LEGO X IKEA Collaboration Announced. This Time, AFOLs Are The Focus [April Fools]

When the collaboration between the LEGO Group and IKEA was first announced several years ago, LEGO Fans around the world were initially excited. However, when it became apparent that the Bygglek boxes were limited in use for kids to clean their bricks off the living room table in time for dinner, AFOLs were left somewhat despondent.

Today, the next chapter in this great Scandinavian Corporate Lifestyle Collaboration is written. Not only have we received news of a new product, we have also been treated to a glimpse at the release roadmap going forward over the next few years. A new desk optimised for building LEGO sets promises to revolutionise the AFOL LEGO Building experience, providing solutions for all but the most common problems that AFOLs experience in their daily builds.

IKEA Announce the Australian Release Date for their LEGO Collaboration: Bygglek

Several months offer the launch in the USA and Europe, IKEA Australia have now announced that the Bygglek collaboration with the LEGO group will be available for purchase, in store and online, from February 17th 2021.

LEGO x IKEA BYGGLEK: Q&A with the Designers, North American Pricing Revealed

When Adult LEGO Fans first heard about the collaboration between the LEGO Group and IKEA AG, there were hopes for an integrated LEGO Storage System: shelving, storage and display spaces. The response to the first views, after some escaped into the wild last month was mixed.

Ikea have just published a Question and Answer session with the head designers – IKEA’s Andreas Fredriksson and Rasmus Buch Løgstrup who lead the design from the LEGO Group’s side of things. Ikea x LEGO® 2020: Bygglek spotted in the wild

June has been and gone, and for the first time in several years, we have had no news of Bygglek. The collaboration between the LEGO Group and IKEA was first announced at the IKEA Democratic Design Days in 2018, we received more idea of what to expect, last year. Essentially billed as a storage system, allowing children to put a pause on play, while getting their bricks tidied up quickly – which is sure to help please their parents. The trick is then to make it as easy to ‘press go,’ and start playing again, faster than switching on the iPad, and getting it connected to the WiFi. (Read on for more)

‘Bygglek’ is the name of the Ikea-LEGO collaboration, and its coming in 2020…

Twelve Months ago this week, while I sat in a hotel room in Japan preparing to go to Japan BrickFest, IKEA and the LEGO Group announced a forthcoming collaboration. Today, as part of the IKEA Democratic Design Days 2019 Event, we heard just a little bit more:
