It was the mid-1980s, and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment seemed to do no wrong. On the tail of E.T. the Extra terrestrial (1982)and Gremlins (1984), in 1985 Steven Spielberg’s production company went on to present Back to the Future and The Goonies. While these are not the only films released by Amblin in that period, these four were all represented in LEGO Dimensions (released in 2015) – with various packs released over the years that the theme ran.

A couple of these films have also had sets released under the LEGO Ideas label – Last month’s LEGO Ideas Gizmo, from Gremlins, along with 2014’s Delorean Time Machine.
Today, we see the formal reveal of 21363 The Goonies. Like Gizmo, this submission was part of the ‘If we could turn back time – 1980’s’ challenge that ran on the Ideas platform in March 1984.
Based on the design by Delusionbrick, this set has 2912 pieces, and will be priced at $AUD499.99 /$USD329.99 / 299.99€ /£269.99. It includes 12 minifigures, and will be released on November 1 2025.

“Hey, you guys!” Relive The Goonies movie adventure with this collectible LEGO® Ideas set for adults (21363). This diorama model features brick-built vignettes of iconic scenes from the 1980s cult classic movie, from the Fratellis’ hideaway and caves to Willy’s treasure room. Turn the model around to view a detailed recreation of the exterior of the Inferno pirate ship ruins. The set includes 12 LEGO minifigures of key characters from the movie and the interiors are packed with authentic details. Send a minifigure through the secret fireplace entrance to the caves. Activate the boulder-dropping trap. Use the Copper Bones Skeleton Key to release the trapdoor. Push the keys on the skeleton organ to break the floor and access the slide to the octopus (from a deleted scene). Send Sloth sliding down the mast on the Inferno deck. A fantastic movie lover gift, this pirate ship-shaped model makes striking home decor.
The model is 62 cm across, and while it features lots of details inside the hideaway on one side, the other side reveals the wrecked pirate ship ‘Inferno’. How many pirate ships have we seen released this year? And none featuring Captain Redbeard/Roger/Brickbeard!.

BILLUND, DENMARK – 24 OCTOBER 2025: Hey You Guys! The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, today unveils the LEGO® Ideas The Goonies set, a 2,912-piece diorama model that invites adult fans to relive the ultimate underground treasure hunt – in brick form.
To celebrate the launch, the LEGO Group has partnered with Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan for a nostalgic mini-film tribute to the beloved 1980s classic. Revisiting his role as Data, the gadget mastermind, Ke Huy Quan guides viewers through the set’s booby traps and showcases hidden easter eggs, sharing personal memories from his iconic performance along the way. Fans can watch the mini-film and step back into the adventure here.
This collectible set features brick-built recreations of memorable scenes, from the Fratellis’ hideaway and caves, to One-Eyed Willy’s legendary treasure room. You can even flip the model to reveal the haunting wreckage of the Inferno pirate ship. Twelve key characters are represented as minifigures, including Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Andy, and of course, Data. Brand-new elements were designed for Sloth’s pirate hat and bandana, and Mama Fratelli’s hair and beret.

Ke Huy Quan comments: “Revisiting Data after all these years – but this time in LEGO form – has been such a joyful experience. The Goonies was all about heart, adventure, and friendship, and this set captures that spirit in fantastic detail. From the booby traps to the treasure room, it’s like stepping back into the tunnels with the gang – only now, I get to share that magic with a whole new generation of fans.”

Builders can drop boulders and activate trapdoors with the Copper Bones Skeleton Key and play the Skeleton Organ – just be careful not to hit the wrong note! The set is packed with nostalgic details for The Goonies fans, with props including Data’s utility belt and Mouth’s hairbrush. There is even a nod to the legendary deleted octopus scene, plus Sloth’s daring mast-slide onto the Inferno’s deck.
The LEGO Ideas The Goonies set was submitted by Greece-based 3D artist and Fan Designer, Vaggelis Ntezes (LEGO Ideas name: Delusion Brick), as part of the LEGO Ideas program. LEGO Ideas allows fans to submit product ideas, which are then voted for by the community before being considered to be made into an official LEGO set. “In designing this set, I revisited my childhood memories – growing up in the 80s, playing with LEGO Pirates sets and watching The Goonies,” said Vaggelis Ntezes. “Combining nostalgia, fantasy, and creativity, I wanted to build something that offered both playability and display value. The final design merges the legendary Inferno with the cave system and booby traps, capturing the spirit of adventure that made the film so unforgettable. I’m thrilled to see it come to life and hope it brings joy to fans old and new.”
LEGO Ideas The Goonies set will be available for LEGO Insiders* Early Access starting 1st November at www.LEGO.com/TheGoonies and in LEGO Stores, with availability for all from 4th November, priced at £269.99 / €299.99 / $309.99. *Membership required, T&Cs apply.

We return to our original commentary.

Now, somehow I passed this film by at the time. I’m not quite sure why. I have vague memories of maybe watching it in the early 90s on VHS, and again as my kids were growing up in the late noughties/early 2010s. I appreciate the fun, and the adventure, and why this film might defin childhood for a generation. I may have just been a little too old when it came out? Or distracted by the final years of school. That said, this model doesn’t shout out to me, but I am sure there are many who will love it. It’s another transgenerational franchise that so easily gets picked up in this day and age for a LEGO Brick reimagining.

Was this a moview that shaped your youth? Are you collecting the seemingly dozens of ship based models being released this year (I’ll be realistic, its probably only 6 of note to most adult builders.)
