Classic Pirates or Disney not your thing? Seek Peace with 10315 Tranquil Gardens

As the deep fandom from around the world migrates towards Brickworld Chicago, the LEGO Group is making sure that there will be something for everyone to be talking about once they arrive – Old school fans can talk about the Eldorado Fortress, while Disneyfans can talk all about the Ideas Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage revealed on Monday. Today: fans of contemplative, mindful builds get a look at the another Icons set: 10315 Tranquil Gardens.

Dimensions – Measures over 21 cm (8 in.) high, 32 cm (12.5 in.) wide and 20 cm (8 in.) deep

This set takes the aesthetics of the Bonsai tree, with its framing dish, and continues the Zen like aesthetic through to Japanese pavilion and Koi Pond. The signs of people: the presence of the bridge and building, as well as the setup for the tea ceremony, but the absence of an actual minfigure and its inherent activity contribute to the feeling of tranquility, while perhaps adding a little mystique to the model. Of course, you could modify it to install your own minfigure on the bridge, should you wish.

Here’s the Press release:

I had the chance to see this set close up at the Melbourne Toy Fair, earlier in the year, and it certainly conveys that feeling of tranquility. I love the look of the lotus flowers floating in the pond, as well as the return of the printed koi tile, last seen in the Lantern Festival set from 2020. Combine that with the tree designs, and the bridge, and I can see a lot of people would like to have a set like this in their collection.

What do you think? It’s due for release on August 1 2023, and will cost $AUD179.99/ $USD109.99/£94.99/€104.99

I’d love to hear what you think of this set! Is it for you? How do you feel about the LEGO Group announcing something new and exciting for AFOLs to talk about in the week leading up to the biggest fan event on the planet? Leave your comments below, and until next time,

Play Well!

  1. The GLW has taken an almost fanatical interest in all things botany that LEGO have released to the point of buying several of the same set to make the, ‘arrangement’ look fuller. I can see this being a must have, she’s already commandeered a couple of the traditional oriental minifigs from the Chinese New Year sets, just to see what they might look like in this set.
