Fan Day in LEGO® House With New Fan Exhibition and Live Presentation

After the pandemic put a hole in everyone’s plans last year, the Skaerbaek Fan Weekend is back in 2021. The Thursday before the weekend has, for 3 of the last 4 years anyway, been associated with a trip to the LEGO House for an AFOL Day. Last year, in the absence of the true physical event, an online event took place.

This weekend, LEGO Fans from around the world – well, the parts that can travel to Denmark, anyway, are heading back to Skaerbaek. And once again, there will be an AFOL Day at the LEGO House. As well as unveilling new exhibits in the Masterpiece gallery, there will also be a number of presentations from Vice President for Design, Matthew Ashton, the Ninjago Team, as well as an update on the LEGO Groups Sustainability developments. Perhaps this is more like what AFOLs were expecting from LEGO Con, held earlier this year.

LEGO have been teasing the arrival of this set on their social media platforms over the last week or two, and today we can finally show it in all its glory.

I have felt a little conflicted over whether or not the subject matter of this series is appropriate as subject matter for a LEGO set, as the show depicts a suspense, frequent scary monsters and government conspiracy. But as far as a final body count in the first series, is it any worse that Star Wars, Avengers, or any recent Batman Movie?

May the Fourth Be With You: An interview with Jens Kronvold Frederiksen [LEGO® Star Wars™ Creative Director]

Jens Kronvold Frederiksen has worked for the LEGO Group for over 20 years: initially as a designer, and more recently as the Creative Director for LEGO® Star Wars™. On Saturday, May 4th – as part of the LEGO Star Wars Day Celebrations, he took part in the Worlds Largest LEGO Star Wars Unboxing at Westfield Chatswood in Sydney with Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught. This is his first trip to Australia.

I had the opportunity to speak with Jens on the eve of this event – we spoke about the importance of Community events, the evolution of LEGO Designs, stickers and how he came to one of the coolest jobs in the world.

As I write this up, unboxing has occurred, and the model inside has been completed… the event continues until 5pm Sunday May 5th.

Community Corner: BrisBricks Expo at Chandler Arena- 29th September- 1st October 2018

We have had a few community events held around the country recently, and as we head further into spring, they just keep coming. Over the forthcoming Queen’s Birthday long weekend in Queensland, BrisBricks will be holding their sixth Fan Expo at the Chandler Arena. Read on for further details:

BrisBricks returns to the Chandler Arena for its biggest LEGO Fan Expo to date

BrisBricks LEGO® Fan Event is welcomed back to Brisbane’s Chandler Arena on September 29th to October 1st.

Now in its sixth year, BrisBricks annual LEGO Fan Expo at Chandler Arena has over the years welcomed thousands of patrons to be amazed and excited by the visually stunning exhibits and this year will be no exception.

BrisBricks’ energetic team of clever builders and volunteers freely donate their time, displaying their own creations and personal collections that will take children and adults on a magical journey through the ages of LEGO.

There will be interactive displays and play tables; a large train layout covering scenes from a number of movie blockbusters; and much more.

A couple of highlights this year is an impressive Batcave model built by talented master builder Brent Waller (who also worked on some of the model design for last year’s LEGO BatmanTM movie) and a huge Harry Potter display with an impressive Hogwarts castle accessed from Kings Cross station via Hogwarts express.

BrisBricks will also try to regain the Southern Hemisphere record of having the largest number of “Great Ball Contraption” modules on display. These modules work together moving small plastic balls around a track in all ways possible.

The BrisBricks Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) community in South East QLD is a not for profit club that has proudly supported many local children’s charities over the years. This year we are proudly supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Long term BrisBricks club member, Russell Bates, said: “The hundreds of hours spent creating a display for a BrisBricks’ Expo is amply rewarded by the smiles on the thousands of appreciative fans of all ages”.

At the Expo patrons will enjoy:
