75341 LEGO® Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder Revealed

As May the Fourth Approaches at what feels llike an ever glacial pace, it is time to see the official release images of the latest Ultimate Collector Series set: Set 75341 has 1890 pieces, comes with a Luke Skywalker minifigure, as well as a new exclusive C-3PO figure and will be priced at $319 AUD/$269.99 CAD/£174.99 GB/€199.99 EU/$199.99 US. It will be available exclusively from LEGO Stores.

Luke Skywalker, like any young adult around our world, values the freedoms that he has, despite the pressures from his Uncle Owen, and his X-34 Landspeeder is the key to those freedoms. While it allows him to go out to service the vaporators around the Lars’ moisture farm, it also gives Luke the chance to head over to Anchorhead, and catch up with his friends at Toschi’s Station.

This model is remarkably large, measuring 50cm longx 30 cm wide and 17cm high – significantly larger than any of the existing 6- 8 stud wide versions released over the years.

It comes with 2 mini figures: Luke Skywalker with his light saber and C-3PO, as he should be – with a dual molded silver lower leg on the right, as well as side printing on his leg to reveal his knee joint. This is a significant step up with the next most detailed figure, due to be released in the Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama. (Far right).

I am torn with this C3PO: last year, an argument used to justify not releasing a phase 2 Commander Cody figure with the republic gunship was the high cost to buy in to such a figure. Yet this C3PO comes in a UCS set (albeit not as expensive as the gunship) – so again, we go towards making a large set a ‘gatekeeper’ to ownership of the most detailed version of this droid seen to date.

LEGO STAR WARs LandSpeeder – building set PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE

THIS IS THE LEGO® STAR WARS™ LANDSPEEDER
BUILDING SET YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR

21st April 2022:  Today, the LEGO Group announces the new epic LEGO® Star Wars™ Luke Skywalker™ Landspeeder™ set – the latest in the LEGO Ultimate Collector Series (UCS). A faithful recreation of Luke’s battered vehicle, the new 1,890-piece model is a must have for Star Wars and LEGO fans alike.

X-34 Landspeeders were typical civilian transports, designed to withstand the roughest terrains.   The Landspeeder was first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope™, where Luke used the vehicle extensively as part of his farm work, travelling across Tatooine’s™ harsh deserts. Accompanied by C-3PO™, Luke used the Landspeeder to locate R2-D2™, when he was discovered by Obi-Wan Kenobi™.  It was also the vehicle they were travelling in when Obi-Wan used a Jedi™ mind trick to get past stormtroopers guarding entry into Mos Eisley™. Eventually Luke sold the Landspeeder to pay for his transport to the planet Alderaan™.

The LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker Landspeeder building set is 49 centimetres long when complete and features the two-seater cockpit, the turbine engine without a cover, the iconic curved cockpit windscreen plus an exclusive C-3PO™ minifigure (with 2K moulded legs and a side print) and Luke minifigure – complete with lightsaber.

This much-anticipated set makes for the perfect piece to display and show off your love of Star Wars and LEGO building. Even the unboxing is a fun journey within itself, with the vibrant packaging showing off the intricate details of the final built set from several different perspectives.

The new set forms part of the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series sets, which also include the Millennium Falcon™, the A-Wing, the Republic Gunship, and the recently released AT-AT™.

The Landspeeder buiding set has been expertly created by LEGO set designer César Carvalhosa Soares.  Discussing the design, César said, “It’s been an amazing adventure creating Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder in LEGO brick form. It is such an iconic vehicle in the Star Wars saga. We’ve ensured no detail has been forgotten and have even included some of the scratches.  The finished product makes an incredible display and is the perfect addition to the UCS collection.”

The LEGO Star Wars Landspeeder set is available for LEGO VIPs (LEGO.com/VIP) from 1st of May 2022 and everyone from 4th May 2022 from LEGO Stores and LEGO.com/star-wars, at the recommended retail price of $199.99 / £174.99 / € 199.99

I am impressed by the level of detail shown in this vehicle, which has been subject to a number of rebuilds at minifigure scale over the years. I am curious to see how it might fit with existing scale figures. If I am lucky, I can find my 1978 Luke Skywalker Figure. Othwise, will it work with Belville, or constraction figures? If only I collected those 12″ figures back in the day. thanks to the LEGO Group, I have a copy for review sometime over the next week or so.

I do find these larger sets often lose out in the swooshability stakes, requiring several hands to hold steady. Fifty centremeterssure is a lot of shelf space!

What do you think of this set? A day one purchase? One to save for a later date? Or one to leave alone? Why not leave your comments below, and until next time,

Play Well!.
