Create A Vase: Winners Announced

Early in January, we launched our ‘Create a Vase for the LEGO Bouquet’ competition. I am pleased to say that we had an unprecendented response, with 88 entries! I would like to thank everyone who took time out to design and build an entry in the contest. The quality of the entries was outstanding, and certainly challenged the judging panel.

From a Logistical point of view, I certainly found using the entry panel on Airtable to be an easier way to collate entries, rather than wrangling entries from multiple social media platforms: I hope it was satisfactory for entrants. I would love some feedback on your experience. Would you have liked access to view the entries as they were submitted? Were you happier not knowing? I have learned a few new things about it for next time.

Read on to see the prize winners.

Third Prize:

The third place goes toCarter Witz, for his awesome castle themed build.

Carter wrote” The tower is just over 6″ tall (which is slightly over 15cm). Thanks for the contest, it was a fun challenge!”

The judges commented: “… love a neat castle build any time. The form of the brickwork, the climbing plant and the ruined appearance just cap this one off.” Indeed, the texture and colours one the wall wreally add to the finished product here.

Second Prize:

Our Second Prize goes to Jaroslaw Walter:

“The vase was invented by my girlfriend, I just built it. I have already built flowers and a vase more than once, it was a pleasure.”

The Judges went on to say, “The smoothness of the lines, as well as the contrasting Black and white elements contrasts with the shapes and colours of the flowers in a most pleasing way.”

First Prize:

Here is our our first place winner, by Łukasz Alagierski.

Łukasz wrote, “My first competition entry.
Vase made of 715 pieces of Plate, Modified 1 x 2 Rounded with 2 Open Studs in white. Based on Dish 6 x 6 Inverted and finished with LegoTile, Modified 1 x 1 Half Circle Extended.
The structure proved susceptible to easy wall formation”

The judges commented: “Love the shape and technique used, being a solid colour resembles a perfect vase.”
“The simplicity of the form, along with the pliability of the structure to achieve its shape is wonderful.”

Be sure to check out Łukasz’s other entries in the gallery below.

Congratulations to all of the winners: I shall be in touch about prizes presently.

What do you think? I really appreciate the time and effort that all of the entrants made in their designs, and final presentations. Many are truly phenomenal. You should all be proud of yourselves, and the effort you have put in. I’d also like to thank the members of the judging panel for their time and effort.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about the entries, as well as the platform for submitting them. Why not leave your comments below, and until next time,

Play Well!
