Ricky Raccoon reduced to his Elements: Feeling Fragmented in Fabuland

In which Ricky raccoon goes to pieces, and we realise that these figures are a little more flexible than initially suspected…

Meet Ricky Raccoon. Like all Fabuland figures, Ricky has a few years behind him. He first appeared in 324 Ricky Raccoon and his Scooter way back in 1979 – forty years ago. The world population of Fabuland figures is not increasing (unless there is a super secret birthday treat coming our way).

The Downfall of Bricksburg [Rapid Review 10895 Emmet And Lucy’s Visitors from the Planet DUPLO]

At the end of the LEGO Move, we saw the town of Bricksburg invaded by visitors from the Planet DUPLO (And we will destroy you all…). These creatures finally appeared in DUPLO Form this year. On the eve of the official opening of the film in Australia, I built this set as a live stream using Facebook Live.

Getting Twitchy for The LEGO® Movie 2: Sweet Mayhem’s Systar Starship 70830 [Rapid Review]

As I continued my online protest of the delay in opening the LEGO Movie 2 in Australia until the 21st of March. (compared with 7th February 2019 in much of the Western world), I turned my eye to Twitch, a streaming platform often used for streaming live video game , to broadcast his live build stream. This time the set of choice was 70830 Sweet Mayhem’s Systar Starship. The stream took place on Sunday, March 17 2019. My Twitch channel can be found at twitch.tv/ramblingbrick

6000 Ideas Book: Now the story really starts.

LET ME tell you a story. Years ago, before LEGO® Life, before the internet, and before instructions required us to place only 2-4 elements per step, it was common to find inspirational ideas for further constructions on the back of the box that you bought your LEGO sets in. No Instructions. No parts list. Just a single picture. Sometime several. Town, Castle, Space: all themes from ‘back in the day’ featured these alternate builds. And they provided inspiration to further develop our play ideas.

The AFOL’s Guide to Overwatch #6: Watchpoint Gibraltar 75975

In which I reach the end of my survey of the (first wave of?) LEGO® Overwatch sets, find a gigantic gorilla in an armoured space suit, build a shuttle and gantry, discover an interesting property of some dark red elements and return to the ancient history of the LEGO Group as I ask the question “Why does the colour seem a bit off here?” Do you want to know more? Read on.

Let me tell you a story. When I began reviewing the Overwatch sets, I knew nothing of the game, and nothing of the lore. I still know virtually nothing about playing the game, BUT I have come to meet a number of the characters along the way, and appreciate the Lore behind them all. We have seen a number of sets so far: Tracer vs Widowmaker 75070 ; Hanzo vs Genji 75071; Dorado Showdown 75972; Rheinhart and D.va 75973 and most recently Bastion 75974. There is one set left to review: 75975: Watchpoint Gibraltar. This is the largest of the Overwatch sets, featuring a large shuttle launch vehicle, a rocket gantry/launch pad three minifigures and an oversized Gorilla wearing reading glasses.

I asked Harry, the game playing teenager in our house to explain why all these things would want to be put together in a single set, and why we should care?

Classic Mobile Game ‘Tiny Tower’ in Development to become a LEGO® Tower

Here at the Rambling Brick, we love a bit of digital diversion in the form of casual gaming as much as the next person. Possibly more, especially if there aren’t any LEGO® Bricks to play with. A good few years ago, I found myself playing Tiny Tower, and Tiny Death Star. I may have moved on from this type of game after a while – perhaps I was distracted by the LEGO Elves games, or perhaps I just got a new phone- but it is about to receive a fresh lease of life, thanks to a new collaboration between the LEGO Group and NimbleBit LLC, the original Game’s designers.

Disney Series 2 LEGO® Collectible Minifigures 71024 Announced

Overnight, the next series of Collectible Minifigures was announced via the LEGO Social Media Channels. They must have Disney on their mind at the moment, as this comes hot on the heels of the announcement of the Steamboat Willie Ideas set.

Unlike that monochrome set, this one is bright and colourful, and some might suggest more reasonably priced. There are eighteen figures in this new set, from eight different Disney Licences.

Magnificent in Monochrome: LEGO® Ideas 21317 Steamboat Willie Announced

It seems like it was not even a month ago that we heard about Maté Szabo’s submission to LEGO® Ideas being selected to be made into an official LEGO Set. And now it is due to be released on the First of April.
