MEDIA RELEASE

17 November 2016

HELP US MAKE MINILAND MELBOURNE OUT OF LEGO® BRICKS

What are Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks?

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre is urging Victorians to suggest the most iconic landmarks in Melbourne, with the top ten locations to be built into MINILAND Melbourne as part of the LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre attraction due to open in Autumn 2017 at Chadstone – The Fashion Capital.

Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, Melbourne Cricket Ground, St Paul’s Cathedral are all local landmarks that make up the most liveable city in the world but what’s missing? LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre is calling upon the general public to shape MINILAND Melbourne via social media with a dedicated Facebook page to submit their suggestions of their favourite local landmarks that #MakeMelbourne.

Merlin Entertainments plc Divisional Director Rob Smith said “Construction has begun and we’re progressing with MINILAND Melbourne plans; while we can’t build everything we’d love the help of Melbournians to decide which locations we cannot leave out.

“Melbourne has been voted the most liveable city in the world for six years running which make it an ideal location to build Australia’s first LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre and we’d love to know which iconic landmarks are most important to the passionate people who live here. LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre provides a unique opportunity for us to bring Melbourne to life in a world of LEGO creativity and colour.”

Located inside Australia’s leading shopping centre, Chadstone – The Fashion Capital, the Discovery Centre will be the ultimate indoor LEGO® playground with more than two million bricks housing MINILAND Melbourne with iconic buildings and landmarks, alongside a number of LEGO® themed zones for kids and their families including an interactive LEGO® laser ride, a Merlin’s Apprentice ride and a 4D cinema.

The first round of voting for MINILAND Melbourne opens today [17 November] and closes on 30 November via the dedicated LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre MINILAND Melbourne Facebook page. To cast your vote visit: Facebook – MINILAND Melbourne Vote
